摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a perpendicular magnetic recording medium with high productivity, wherein spike noise and soft magnetic layer noise are reduced by forming a soft magnetic layer provided between a substrate and a perpendicular magnetic recording layer of the recording medium by using an alloy plating method by which a thick film can be formed in a short period of time. SOLUTION: A soft magnetic backing layer 2 consisting of an alloy plating layer is formed on the substrate 1 formed by providing a Ni-P alloy plating layer 1b on an aluminum plate or an aluminum alloy plate, a soft magnetic buffer layer 3 is formed on the soft magnetic backing layer, an anti-ferromagnetic layer 4 is formed on the soft magnetic buffer layer, a base layer 5 is formed on the anti-ferromagnetic layer and the perpendicular magnetic recording layer 6 is formed on the base layer to form the perpendicular magnetic recording medium.
