PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pickup unit capable of efficiently discharging heat generated by the power consumption of a mounted module. SOLUTION: The pickup unit 2 for writing information in a disk (optical disk) 1 and reading information from the disk 1 is provided with a carriage 3 and an actuator base 4, wherein as a heat discharging means, a plurality of fins (linear fins) 5 are formed on the upper surface of the carriage 3 in the tangential direction of the disk 1.
