PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize thinnings or the like by joining wooden materials with each other without using an adhesive. SOLUTION: The single boards A and B are sawn from a lamina (about L50) for a cedar laminated timber, they are joined in a tongue-and-groove form as a dyad, and then consolidation processing is performed in a direction orthogonal to a joining direction, that is vertically to consolidate the boards from an initial thickness of 27 mm to finally 15 mm (consolidation index of 44%). In the consolidation process, a compressed air injection type hot press is used in a closed frame, a hot platen temperature is 180°C, and a pressing speed is 1.0 mm/min. After reaching a predetermined thickness, the board is retained for 780 s while injecting the compressed air (pressure of 1 Ma) into the closed frame. Then, the hot platen is quickly cooled in a pressurized state to reach normal temperature, thus obtaining a joined board. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
