PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crusher capable of treating chips at a low cost, in large quantities, with less rupture energy and without using a cutter when reducing the volume of the chips. SOLUTION: The chips are entwined by hooking claws, the chips formed into a bobbin shape are struck against the inner wall of a hopper, the chips are parted from shear surfaces or small and weak parts of the chips and, thereby, the parting energy is remarkably decreased as compared with cutting by means of the conventional cutter. Further, in order to prevent the chips once parted from being entangled into the bobbin state again, a way out for ruptured chips is laid. Furthermore, in order to disentangle the bobbin state of the chips, the rotational direction of a rotator is set to be reversed after a predetermined time by using a sequencer. In order to find out a better condition, the rotator is set to be multi-shaft and the combination of the rotational direction and rotational time can be freely selected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
