PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of making a reading level in sheet-through reading at a desired target value and enabling a user to easily correct the sheet-through reading level when the apparatus is installed on the market. SOLUTION: This image reading apparatus is provided with a signal processing substrate 36 having a function which holds digital image data of an original having a predetermined reflection rate, read by an automatic document feeding device 16; and calculates a ratio of the digital image data to the desired target for each decomposition color, and after that multiplying the read data read using the automatic document feeding device by a coefficient corresponding to the ratio to correct the output.
