A tie for shuttering comprises a cone 5a engaging the shuttering and having a bore 6 extended by a tube 5b countersunk into the small end of the cone and having an anchoring pin or pins 7. An outer part of the tie is passed through the cone and screwed into the tube 5b and the central part of the tie is screwed into the opposite end of the tube. The two outer parts of the tie each have a nut and plate bearing on the shuttering walings. The cone is removed from the set concrete by a tool having a tap which forms a screw thread in the bore of the cone and an extension which engages the pin 7 and on further turning of the tool the cone is withdrawn from the concrete.
