Composition (A) contains an extract (A1) of 'wolf berries' ( Lycium barbarum, and related species) and an extract (A2) of the berries of Schisandra chinensis, and is essentially free of Schisandraberry seeds and/or their components. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) food supplements and foods that contain (A); (2) cosmetic composition that contains (A1) and (A2); and (3) S. chinensisberry extract containing below 0.1% (dry basis) of lignans and/or schisandrins. ACTIVITY : Tranquilizer; Antiallergic. No details of tests for these activities are given. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
