<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-viewpoint stereoscopic picture display device which prevents an observer from recognizing a picture as a multiple picture even at a part where the change of parallactic pictures with respect to adjacent viewpoints is extreme in a stereoscopic picture, and where the change of the stereoscopic picture with observer's movement is smoothly performed at a part where the change of the parallactic pictures with respect to the adjacent viewpoints is gentle in the case of performing multi-viewpoint stereoscopic display. <P>SOLUTION: In the stereoscopic picture display device, the parallactic pictures corresponding to a plurality of viewpoints are displayed on the respective pixels of a picture display element, and display light from the respective pixels is guided to the front surface or the back surface of the picture display element in accordance with a plurality of viewpoint positions on a prescribed observation surface, then a mask member is used so that the display light may not reach the non-corresponding viewpoint position. In the stereoscopic picture display device, the mask aperture width of the mask member is changed by a method predecided in accordance with the parallax of the parallactic picture displayed on the pixel to which the mask aperture part corresponds. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
