PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for duplicating an irregular pattern, in which high-speed duplication is attained by increasing a duplication speed, and also to provide an apparatus for duplicating the irregular pattern, which surely performs the high-speed duplication. SOLUTION: A duplicate stereotype plate material 3 having a relief layer 1 formed on the surface, corresponding to the irregular pattern of an original plate for duplication and a light-heat conversion layer 2 on the under layer of the relief layer 1, and a film 6 for forming the irregular pattern, having a shaped resin layer 5 composed of an ionization radiation curing resin which is solid at ordinary temperature and has thermoformability, formed on the surface of a base material film 4, are used to make a close contact state by bringing the shaped resin layer 5 of the film 6 for forming the irregular pattern into contact with the relief layer 1 of the duplicate stereotype plate material 3 and in this state the optothermal conversion layer 2 of the duplicate stereotype plate material 3 is irradiated with light 8 from a photoirradiation apparatus 7 so as to convert the light into heat, and the shaped resin layer 5 is softened to shape the irregular pattern of the relief layer 1.
