PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method by which uneven scanning exposure and occurrence of excessive moire are suppressed when scanning exposure is performed using a plurality of light sources which emit lights in the same wavelength band with a dot area image forming apparatus which forms variable density pixels and reproduces dots, and when an image is formed with the dot area image forming apparatus which forms variable density pixels and reproduces dots by their aggregates. SOLUTION: In the image forming method for forming an image comprising yellow, magenta, cyan and black dot images by exposing and developing a silver halide color photosensitive material with the dot area image forming apparatus which forms variable density pixels and reproduces dots, the silver halide color photosensitive material contains a coupler represented by the formula (a) and has a hydrophilic colloidal layer containing≥0.2 g/m<SP>2</SP>of a white pigment, and the ratio (γ<SB>C</SB>/γ<SB>Y</SB>) of gradation (γ<SB>C</SB>) of the cyan image to gradation (γ<SB>Y</SB>) of the yellow image is 1.5-2.0.
