PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a physically handicapped person and an elderly person to safely and easily get on and off a wheelchair and to reduce a burden on a carer by making a slide type step stand of an electric wheelchair. SOLUTION: A stepping motor for sliding the step stand is driven and a footrest 12 is pulled out from a main body at the same time of turning on a power switch or by turning on a drawing switch when getting on the electric wheelchair. When turning on a housing switch, the footrest stops at a position 12a. With such a mechanism, getting on and off of the electric wheelchair can be a human action which is nearly equal to sitting-down action and standing-up action to and from a normal chair, thereby the burden on the carer is reduced.
