PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability during sewing by reducing the effects of response delay at the time of switching of "contracting amount". SOLUTION: The differential feed sewing machine (10) performs sewing by differentiating the feeding amount of upper cloth and lower cloth by upper feeding devices (30 and 60) and lower feeding devices (70 and 74). A motion control means (80) of the upper feeding devices (30 and 60) and the lower feeding devices (70 and 74) can set and input the contracting amount for each of several sewing sections which are switched at the time of sewing and is provided with an excess change function for performing motion control in such a way that the contracting amount is changed temporarily more largely than the amount of change which is previously set with respect to two sewing sections before and after the switching at the time of switching of specified sewing sections.
