<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus which can record a tracking pattern while a recording speed is maintained. <P>SOLUTION: In the color image forming apparatus having a color inkjet printer device equipped as an image recording means, a recording control means is set, which records a copy image by superposing the tracking pattern in units of pixels of the copy image at the time of a copying operation. The tracking pattern is superposed and copied on only pixels which include the copy image, and therefore a white skipping operation of the color inkjet printer device can be carried out effectively.
