<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell power generating system and a method of stopping the same not standing in need of exclusive piping for purging, inert gas cylinder, vapor for purging, nor combustion exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: Power generation of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell main body 1 is stopped and the polymer electrolyte fuel cell main body 1 is cooled by a cooling means 40.
