摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of monitoring stably a toxic substance over a long period, without lowering detection sensitivity for the toxic substance for various qualities of water specimens, when detecting the toxic substance in environmental water, using a microbe sensor. <P>SOLUTION: When detecting the toxic substance in the environmental water, using the microbe sensor constituted of a membrane immobilized with a microbe and a dissolved oxygen electrode, a substrate concentration dependent response characteristic is found by measuring a change of an output current value or output voltage value of the microbe sensor when changing a substrate concentration, alternatively, a response speed in a prescribed substrate concentration is found by measuring a time until the output current value or output voltage value of the microbe sensor exceeds a predetermined value when changed from a stationary operation condition to the prescribed substrate concentration, and an activity of the microbe is controlled by changing a set temperature of the microbe sensor in response to the substrate concentration dependent response characteristic or the response speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
