PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new rosin compound having a rosin skeleton and a plurality of hydroxy groups in one molecule and exhibiting high surface-activity and to further provide a method for production by which the new rosin compound can selectively be produced in high yield. SOLUTION: The rosin compound is obtained by reacting a rosin glycidyl ester (A) with a polyol (B) having≥3 hydroxy groups and has the≥3 hydroxy groups. The method for producing the rosin compound and a surfactant comprising the rosin compound are provided. An additive for a resin comprises the rosin compound. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
