PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device capable of suppressing harmonics while maintaining a high power factor with a simple configuration, which is usable in all areas with different power supply voltage and power supply frequency. SOLUTION: The power supply device comprises an AC power source 1, a bridge rectification circuit 6 which full-wave rectifies the AC from the AC power source 1, a reactor 8 connected between the AC power source 1 and the AC input end of the bridge rectification circuit, a capacitor 10 connected between the AC input end and a DC output end through a bi-directional switch 9, a smoothing capacitor 7, a zero crossing detecting means 12, a power supply frequency detecting means 12a, a bi-directional switch driving signal generating means 13, a bi-directional switch driving means 14, a power supply voltage detecting means 15, and a load detecting means 16.
