PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fracture of piping connection sections and leakage of fluid from connected parts by detecting an inclination degree of piping, without digging up buried piping. SOLUTION: The relative position detecting device of piping is composed of a relative position detecting part 3 fixed to piping having nearly a U shape, a metering device 5 with a pair of detection parts 5a, 5b installed on the ground, a connection pipe 13 for connecting both ends 3a, 3b of the relative position detecting part 3 and the respective detection parts 5a, 5b of the metering device 5, and a working medium 6, comprising two kinds of liquids which are accommodated in piping, possessing different specific gravities respectively and which do not blend with each other.
