摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arithmetic unit for brake operation time calculating brake operation time responding to a driver. SOLUTION: Deceleration G of a preceding vehicle within a predetermined time is calculated based on the relative speed and the speed of own vehicle, and a first set of data [1] of the inter-vehicle distance and the preceding vehicle deceleration is stored in a storage memory [1] every predetermined time. Decelerating start point of the preceding vehicle is calculated by using the first set of data, and the time from the time point when a brake operation state detection means detects the brake stepping operation state to the deceleration start point of the preceding vehicle is calculated. The calculated time is made to be set as a temporary brake operation time T [1] and a second set of data [2] including the inter-vehicle distance, the preceding vehicle deceleration and the temporary brake operation time responding to the preceding deceleration start point is stored in a storage memory [2] from the first set of data. A brake operation time calculation formula is determined by using a plurality of the second set of data, and the brake operation time is calculated by applying the inter-vehicle distance to the calculation formula.
