A soft-focus cosmetic composition comprising about 3 wt. % or more fumed alumina particles, a method of enhancing the soft-focus effect of a cosmetic composition comprising combining the cosmetic composition with about 3 wt. % or more fumed alumina particles, and a method for disguising skin imperfections, which method comprises applying a cosmetic composition to the skin, wherein the cosmetic composition comprises about 3 wt. % or more fumed alumina particles.
