A storage medium including text based caption information, an apparatus and a method for playing the caption information are provided to output captions of two languages simultaneously or output a caption separately while playing the caption in real time through a control by a hardware. A storage medium including text based caption information comprises a moving picture data and a subtitle data. The subtitle data is output to be overlapped on a picture based on the moving picture in a graphic. The subtitle data comprises a text data for generating pixel data, which is converted into a bitmap image, and control information for controlling the pixel data to be output in real time. The text data is for converting caption contents into the bitmap image in order to output the caption contents in a overlapped graphic. The text data further comprises style information for designating a caption style output in an overlapped graphic.
