PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio portable mobile unit which can perform certainly viewing and listening of a desired program without introducing an increase in a power consumption and without always taking care of time. SOLUTION: A method for automatically receiving a broadcasting signal used for a radio portable mobile unit includes a step of informing the effect a television program information detector 16 by a controller 14 when an operating unit 13 informs to link to a television program information; and a step of reading a date, a time, and a channel of broadcasting the television program from the television program information by the television program information detector 16. The controller 14 displays the information of the date and the time on a display unit 15. The controller 14 sets the date and the time to a timer 17 in response to a user operation. The timer 17 informs the effect to the controller 14 when it becomes the set date and time, and the controller 14 allows a signal receiver 11 to receive the television signal of the channel taken out by the television program information detector 16.
