PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide release mechanism which does not occupy extra space on a substrate, when an optical communication device housing box is released from the substrate, and which is capable of easily taking out the released housing box. SOLUTION: The release mechanism 8, for removing the optical communication device housing box mounted on the substrate 1 via a connector 34, is equipped with a piston 9 slidably mounted in the vertical direction with respect to the substrate on the housing box 2 and pressing the substrate 1 by sliding; and a lever 13 pivoted in the housing box 2, freely turning within the vertical surface to the substrate 1, and pressing the piston 9 accompanying turning.
