PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional liquid crystal display device that its power consumption increases because of charging and discharging since an AC-converted potential is supplied even to a counter electrode of a liquid crystal display panel in a non-illumination state. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device is equipped with: a subordinate counter electrode driving circuit which drives the counter electrode of a subordinate-side liquid crystal display panel in an AC mode when the subordinate-side liquid crystal display panel illuminates and applies a DC voltage having a specified voltage value to the counter electrode of the subordinate-side liquid crystal display panel when not; and a main counter electrode driving circuit which drives the counter electrode of a main-side liquid crystal display panel in an AC mode when the main-side liquid crystal display panel illuminates and applies a DC voltage having a specified voltage value to the main counter electrode when not.
