PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid type torque converter in which a generable output loss is increased without causing the risk of damage to the components of a bridging clutch device in the area of the bridging clutch device. SOLUTION: The bridging clutch device 58 comprises at least one of first friction mechanisms 60 and 62 rotatable together with a housing device 18 and at least one of second friction mechanisms 64 and 66 rotatable together with a turbine wheel 26. These friction mechanisms are brought into a frictionally contact with each other for the transmission of torque. At least one of the friction mechanisms 60, 62, 64, and 66 is formed to generate fluid circulation Z flowing at least for each area around these friction mechanisms 60, 62, 64, and 66.
