PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce wave making resistance by straightening a flow which forms a discontinuous line of a speed in a flow field near a stern, making it possible for a flow backward from a stern end along a ship bottom to smoothly break off, and reducing resistance caused by generation of a disturbed flow near a free surface. SOLUTION: The straightening device is arranged so as to cover a part of a shell plate of a hull from the ship bottom to the stern end and has front edges, side edges, and a rear edge. The device is characterized by a length of a part projecting backward from the stern, a length from the forefront end to the rearmost end, a bottom surface shape line on a vertical surface parallel to the center line of the device and away from the center line so as to have a quarter of a distance between the left/right side edges of the device at the stern end/ship bottom part, and a bottom surface shape line on a vertical surface parallel to the center line of the device passing the front edge at a rear position away from the front end of the device with a half of a distance between the front/rear ends of the device.
