PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device capable of assisting pressurization of brake oil from the time of stepping in a brake pedal when a driver performs a sudden braking operation. SOLUTION: When it is determined that a driver performs a sudden braking operation from the vehicle speed detected by wheel speed sensors 21, 22, 23 and 24, sudden return of an accelerator pedal 14 detected by an accelerator opening sensor 16, and the step-in changing time from the accelerator pedal 14 to a brake pedal 8 which is operated based on information from an accelerator pedal switch 15 and a brake pedal switch 12, an electronic control device 30 operates a hydraulic unit 10 from the time of stepping in the brake pedal 8.
