PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing body, used for polishing the surface of an object made of materials different in hardness without a difference in level at a boundary part between different materials and without causing shape abnormality in a body to be polished. SOLUTION: In the polishing body provided with a coat on a support, diamond particles having the mean particle diameter of 0.1 to 5μm and at least one kind of metal oxide particles selected from plate-like or needle-like metal oxide particles having the mean particle diameter of 0.005 to 0.5μm are contained in the coat, and the content percentage of the diamond particles is set to 0.5 to 10 wt% to the total weight of the diamond particles and the metal oxide particles.
