Articles such as filaments, fibres, fabrics, webs and foils are obtained by mono- or bi-axially stretching an article formed from a chlorinated tactic polyvinyl chloride having a density of 1.41-1.55 and a K value of 50-90 obtained by chlorinating a polyvinyl chloride containing 55-80% of sydiotactically arranged chlorine atoms. Chlorination is preferably effected in suspension in hydrochloric acid and water using chloroform as a swelling agent in the presence of ultra-violet light at 15-30 DEG C. as described in Specification 1,026,118. Stretching is effected at 100-160 DEG C. to 3-12 times the original dimension. |
