STEERING COLUMN DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column device having high clamping rigidity of its telescopic mechanism and free of such an occurrence in which a moving column member loosens relative to a stationary column member caused by vibration etc. SOLUTION: The steering column device is structured so that a firs wedge 211 and a second wedge 212 are installed in two places apart in the axial direction of the stationary column member 2 and that a column clamp shaft 6 is installed penetrating. A nut 214 is driven onto the column clamp shaft 6 and presses a thrust bearing 213 so as to come in contact with the second wedge 212. An energizing spring 216 is fitted on between the first wedge 211 and the second wedge 212 and gives an energizing force to the wedges 211 and 212 in the direction of separating at all times. A sector-shaped stopper 2115 and a sector-shaped cam face 2116 are formed on the right end face of the first wedge 211 and thereto a pin 217 fixed to the column clamp shaft 6 and the sector-shaped cam face 2116 are contacted at normal times.
