METHOD OF DAMAGING BIOMOLECULE AND BIOMOLECULE DAMAGING APPARATUS

A method of damaging biomolecules which enhances the efficiency of biomolecule damaging (cleavage) by photosensitized one-electron oxidation reaction; and an apparatus for carrying out this method. Thus, there can be realized a method of PDT capable of reducing the strain on patients and the workload of doctors and capable of achieving curative effects with high efficiency within a brief span of time. In particular, there is provided a method of damaging biomolecules comprising effecting biomolecule damaging through irradiation of a photosensitized substance with optical beams, wherein the photosensitized substance is exposed to each of optical beams with different wavelengths at least once so as to induce multiple excitations of the photosensitized substance. Biomolecules can be effectively damaged by this method.
