A heater type humidifier having automatic switch function of water supply is provided to maximize generation of vapor by supplying an appropriate amount of water at an appropriate temperature by automatically stopping water supply if the temperature of a heater falls. An evaporation tank(10) stores water. A heater is installed in the evaporation tank for heating water. A temperature controller controls power supply for controlling the temperature. A water control bimetal(40) is mounted at the evaporation tank for operating at a preliminarily set temperature. An overheating preventing bimetal interrupts power supply supplied to the heater when the temperature reaches a preliminarily set temperature. A melting fuse is connected between the overheating preventing bimetal and the heater for interrupting power supplied to the heater if the overheating preventing bimetal is out of order. If the temperature controller connected with terminals is put on an on-state, other terminals are charged with electric current. Electric current supplied to the terminal is intermittently cut when a step of the temperature controller goes down, thereby controlling amount of vapor according to the temperature of the heater to control water supply.
