A method for compressing a camera image is provided to considerably reduce the storing capacity of image data by successively compressing the image data using a plurality of encoders, simultaneously generating an encoder-classified intrinsic characteristic value, and storing only the last compression value and the intrinsic characteristic value in a memory. Image information data are acquired(S301). The image information data are compressed as the most significant unit compression value and the most significant specific value through a successive unit encoding process(S302). A number is counted whenever the least significant unit of the image information data is applied to the encoding process to generate a TPV(Total Pixel Value)(S303). The last compression value including the unit compression value, the most significant specific value and the TPV is generated(S304). The generated last compression value is stored(S305).
