A method and device for converting input data produced by scanning a color image consisting of pixels arranged in a first grid (1001 - 1006) into output data resulting in reproduction of the color image consisting of pixels (1021 - 1026) arranged in a second grid. Each pixel of the input data and output data consists of a plurality of sub-pixels. Each sub-pixel of a pixel is associated with a color component ((R, G, B) of the color image. A sub-pixel of a color component (R, G, B) of the output data is produced by filtering the sub- pixels of the corresponding color components of the input data using a filter function (108a, 108b, 108c) which is locally associated with the sub-pixel of the output data.
