<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable purchasers of food at stores or the like to gain food information at the stores that involves food freshness, methods of selecting food at the time of purchase, methods of cooking food, the retail prices of food and the like. <P>SOLUTION: Images of food of interest are picked up using the imaging means 11 of a terminal device 10 at a store and data on the images picked up are sent from the terminal device 10 to a server device 20 via a network 30. The server device 20 analyzes the kind of imaged food involved in the image data, and fetches information to be provided about the food corresponding to the kind analyzed from a database 22. The information to be provided is sent from the server device 20 to the terminal device 10 to display the information.
