<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which a utilization factor of the light from a backlight is improved, and power consumption is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: In sub-frames of respective colors, time necessary for each data scanning operation is set to be 25% of the sub-frame and time between two data scanning operations is also set to be 25% of the sub-frame. In the sub-frames of the respective colors, the backlight is turned on between the center of timing of the first data scanning (the first half) operation and that of the second data scanning (the second half) operation. Turning on time of the backlight is 50% of the sub-frame. The ratio of time in which a liquid crystal panel is in a transmission state (on state) to the turning on time of the backlight (a panel on ratio) attains 88% and the utilization factor of the light is heightened. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
