<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical unit or the like that has a compact configuration, can introduce light from an LED to light guides having various diameters efficiently, and can extremely unify light applied to a region irradiated with light from the light guide. <P>SOLUTION: A light irradiation apparatus comprises a recessed section 42 for accommodating the LED 21; a center convex section 43, an annular convex lens 44, and a curved swollen surface 45 for totally reflecting light L from the LED 21 inward. Nearly entire light L passing through the side of the recessed section 42 is totally reflected on the curved swollen surface 45 and radiated toward the outside as light in a direction for approaching each other via the annular convex lens 44. Nearly entire light L passing through the bottom surface of the recessed section 42 is radiated to the outside as light L in a direction for approaching each other via the center convex lens 43. Then, the nearly entire light L radiated to the outside converges in a fixed diameter on the light reception surface 3a of the light guide, and illuminance becomes nearly uniform in the diameter or changes nearly smoothly. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
