<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tyrosinase inhibitor having excellent effect, a skin care preparation for external use containing the tyrosinase inhibitor as a bleaching component and a food containing the inhibitor as a browning preventing component for food. <P>SOLUTION: The tyrosinase inhibitor contains one or more substances selected from nerol, vanillin, hydroxycitronellal, methyl heptynecarboxylate, benzyl alcohol, methyl naphthyl ketone, rosephenone and isobornyl acetate as active components.
