PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new manufacturing method of a 3,4-epoxybutyl 1-sulfonate compound suitable for large scale synthesis with a few of processes and without expensive reagents. SOLUTION: The method comprises: reducing a 4-halo-3-hydroxybutanoic acid ester for resulting in a 4-halo-1,3-butanediol, to which a base is reacted to lead to 3,4-epoxy-1-butanol; and converting a hydroxy group in the 3,4-epoxy-1-butanol into a sulfonyl group by reacting a sulfonyl halide in the presence of the base, or other process, to obtain a 3,4-epoxybutyl 1-sulfonate.
