PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a failure of a current detection circuit of an electric power steering device with reliability, and to switch a control system from a feedback system to an open loop system when a failure is detected. SOLUTION: A control system of the electric power steering device is provided with a torque sensor for detecting steering torque of a steering wheel, a motor for supplementally energizing a load on a steering shaft provided integrally with the steering wheel, and a control unit for driving the motor through the feedback system in accordance with a magnitude of the steering torque. Then the control unit is provided with the current detection circuit of the motor and a failure detection circuit for detecting a failure of the current detection circuit.
