PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an eddy current speed reducer at a low cost by reducing the number of components. SOLUTION: The eddy current speed reducer includes a braking drum 11 mounted on a rotary shaft, and a magnet ring 15 disposed oppositely to the braking drum 11. The magnet ring 15 has an annular magnetic member 16, a plurality of permanent magnets 17 provided at a predetermined interval in the circumferential direction at the magnetic member 16 so that poles opposed in a circumferential direction are set to the same polarity, and an air gap 18 provided at a radial inside of the permanent magnet 17 for preventing a magnetic short circuit of the permanent magnets 17 to each other at the magnetic member 16.
