PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is provided with a weight supply unit for supporting the weight of a read unit, absorbing the weight of the read unit, preventing distortions or deformations due to the weight of the read unit, and allows the weight supply unit to set the position of a support member, by using the amount of sinkage of the support member with respect to the weight of the read unit as the amount of correction, in advance. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus, including the read unit and a structure for supporting the read unit, is provided with the weight supply unit. The structure has a pair of left and right support members, both ends of one of the support members are fixed to a pair of front and rear structure members, the one end of the other support member is supported vertically turnably by the shaft of one structure member of another pair of front and rear structure members, and the weight supply unit supports the weight of the read unit around the shaft in the vertical direction.
