PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state imaging device of the configuration for suppressing occurrence of blooming, without raising a read out voltage. SOLUTION: A solid state imaging device comprises a light receiving sensor 2 for receiving incident light, a vertical transfer register 3 provided on one side of the light receiving sensor 2, a read out gate 14 provided between the light receiving sensor 2 and the vertical transfer register 3, and a channel stop region 13 provided on the side opposite to the read out gate 14 of the vertical transfer register 3. A second conductive type semiconductor region 12 formed under a transfer channel region 11 is formed wider in the channel stop region 13 side than the transfer channel region 11 of first conductive type that constitutes the vertical transfer register 3.
