PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker in which the possibility of a deformation of a steam generating means by a temperature rise when water in the steam generating means becomes empty during rice cooking is reduced. SOLUTION: The steam generating means 5 is equipped with an emptiness sensing means 12 to detect whether the water exists in the steam generating means 5 or not and a heating action of the steam generating means 5 is stopped when no water is sensed, so that the risk of the temperature rise or the deformation of the steam generating means 5 and its surrounding parts can be reduced.
