The drum has a casing (2) with an outer side and an inner side (18) enclosing an inner cavity (9). The center longitudinal axis of the drum acts as the rotational axis, and at least one support component strengthens the drum casing against deformations during rotation of the drum around the rotational axis. The support component is installed inside the cavity and is supported and fixed in relation to the inner side of the drum casing. The support component is in the form of a support ring (16), the outer side (17) of which lies flat against the inner side of the drum casing.
