The method involves transmitting data between several functional units over a data bus in a time-division multiplexing format. The transmitting functional unit (FS1) has an associated clock pulse which is sent for each case. The clock pulses are transferred over a common clocking line with and exhibits the same transmission characteristics as the data bus. The data in the functional units are assigned time slots to be transferred, having additionally a connection phase, a data communication phase and a disconnection phase.
