<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst which can oxidize carbon monoxide more efficiently than platinum, and to provide a method for producing the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: A carrier such as aluminum oxide is impregnated with a solution containing platinum, dried at 100°C, and baked at 300-600°C. Next, the baked carrier is impregnated with a solution containing rhenium, dried, baked, and reduced in a hydrogen flow of 300-600°C. The catalyst with platinum and rhenium supported on the carrier is obtained. The content of rhenium in the catalyst is preferably 0.5-1.5 wt.%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
