<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine an optimum tint block density parameter necessary for the generation of a tint block image in which the printing density of a latent image part is almost equal to that of a background part even in a printer in which the density change of the latent image and that of the background part are large because the gradation characteristics of the latent image part and the background part which are based on the engine characteristic of a printer, output paper, individual differences or the like depend on an unknown printer, a printing environment, durability variation or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The primary trial printing of a tint block image generated by changing the printing density of both or any one of the latent image part and the background part by a first pattern is performed, a user is made to select one tint block image in which the printing density of the latent image part is approximate to that of the background part from tint block images obtained by the primary trial printing and secondary trial printing is performed by changing the printing density by a second pattern on the basis of a parameter for determining the selected printing density. Then the user is made to select one tint block image in which the printing density of the latent image part is approximate to that of the background part from a plurality of tint block images obtained by the secondary trial printing and the parameter of the selected tint block image is determined as a tint block density parameter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
