<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a status notifying function effective even for an independent image forming apparatus not connected with a network and capable of notifying status information in accordance with the ready state of a user. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 comprises an image reading section 6, an image forming section 3, a control section 32, a storage section 33, an operating panel 34, a transmitting section 35, a telephone line interface 36 and a speaker 37. The storage section 33 stores a plurality of voices and character messages for respective states of the apparatus. The transmitting section 35 comprises a voice transmitting section 41 for transmitting a voice message selected at the control section 32 through a telephone line or transmitting it to the outside by voice through a speaker 37, and a mail transmitting section 42 for transmitting a character message selected at the control section 32 by e-mail. A user presets whether to transmit or not transmit a message using any one of these three transmitting means on the operating panel 34, and status information of the apparatus is notified to the user by a transmitting means thus set. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
