PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent leakage of aqueous components from an absorbent article by improving adhesion of gathers around legs in the absorbent article to the body of a user. SOLUTION: The absorbent article is a paper diaper 100 comprising an absorbent body 3, an exterior body 2 for fixing the absorbent body, and a pair of gathered parts 22d around legs to be in contact with legs of the user along both ends in the cross direction of the exterior body. Each gathered part 22b has rubber strings 5 with abdomen side rubber strings 51 extending from an abdomen side part 2a to a crotch part 2c and back side rubber strings 52 extending from the crotch part to a back side part 2b. The abdomen side rubber string comprises an abdomen side linear part 51b formed nearly linearly on the abdomen side and an abdomen side curved part 51c formed as a projecting curved line on the inner side of the exterior body on the crotch part side from the abdomen side linear part. The back side rubber string comprises a back side linear part 51b formed linearly on the back side and a back side curved part 51a formed as a projecting curved line on the inner side of the exterior body on the crotch side from the back side linear part, and is fixed to the exterior body.
